Madhuri rocks BIG TIME!!! I saw ‘Aaja Nachle’ today, and was spellbound by the way she’s breezed through the movie. She owns every frame of the movie she appears in. The movie is not extraordinary, or new to Bollywood. But the cast is good, and everyone has performed brilliantly. To say that they’ve acted would be an insult to everyone’s talent. Raghuveer Yadav, Ranvir Shourie, Vinay Pathak, Irrfan Khan, Akshay Khanna, Konkana Sen and others are all too good and have breathed life into the movie.
But in the end, the movie is worth it for 3 things. Madhuri, her dance, and the ‘Laila Majnu’ musical play in the end. The set made for that play is terrific, of the same level as that used by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Saanwariya’, the play is musical and powerful and completely takes you in. All the romantics out there will surely relate to it in some way or the other. If not relate they’ll at least pray to God to protect their love from such an ending or will fume over the injustices done to true love. The dances are beautifully choreographed and bring out the essence of the songs or the scene.
And then we have Madhuri, that Goddess Bollywood is blessed with. We all admire Actresses like Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra for their performance or looks or, in a rare case, both. But then comes Madhuri and changes the equation with a snap of her fingers. She doesn’t even have to take an effort to act here, so natural is her performance. And when it comes to dancing, she always was in the same league as Hema Malini or Sri Devi. Her expressions and movements are a treat for the eyes and the heart. It’s like she glides on clouds when she dances (maybe thats because by the time you see her dance in the first song, you’re already high on her).
Ok, now you must be thinking I’ve really lost it, that I’ve gone bonkers over her. But its nothing of the sort, I don’t expect you to believe all that I’ve written here. So go watch the movie and then my friend, if you can, do prove me wrong.
